Karl Woermann (1844–1933) was a prominent German art historian who served as director of the Dresden Picture Gallery. He was one of the leading art historians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for his comprehensive and systematic approach to art history.
The Work Overall
Geschichte der Kunst aller Zeiten und Völker ("History of Art of All Times and Peoples") is Woermann's magnum opus — a monumental, multi-volume survey of world art history. It was published by Bibliographisches Institut (Leipzig/Vienna) beginning in the 1900s, and is considered a landmark of German art historical scholarship.
