IFi Audio Zen Can Headphone Amplifier - Balanced Hi-Res Amp

The Zen Can from iFi Audio is perfect for those wanting a compact desktop headphone amp with the technology normally reserved for higher end Pro iCan series. This amplifier has is a fully balanced with class A discrete circuitry, XBass bass correction system and OV series op-amps to always deliver low-noise and low distortion music at a budget price.

Typically laptops and smartphones have a low power output of <1.0v. Therefore with a good set of headphones you will always be lacking power. However, if you use your laptop, phone or DAC to send your music to the ZEN CAN and connect your headphones, you will have 52x more power.

The Zen-Can employs Class-A Discrete balanced circuitry that they use in their flagship model, the Pro iCan. With 15.1v @300 Ohms of power, the Zen Can is a serious contender. The FET input avoids loading volume control, which results in low distortion/noise. The output amplifier gain is in four steps of +6dB so its great for headphone matching.

Included with the Zen Can is iFi Audio’s 3D-Holographic special sound circuit which has been designed to give you, the listener, an immersive listening experience. The stereo image will seem outside of your head, in front with height, width & depth, without colouration or loss of resolution. Plus it has all analogue circuitry rather than costly, complex digital signal manipulation.

The XBass technology corrects the frequency response curve to account for the low-end response problems often found in headphones, open-back in particular; since as they let all low end frequencies components escape out of the back instead of trapping and redirecting them back to your ears.
